Right after reading Neal's saucy li'l post about technology, webcomics and innovation, my Ames Lettering Guide arrived in the mail. This little bugger was invented in 1911 but still seems relevant to me, since I converted to hand lettering my comics about a year and a half ago.
Can you believe I spent so many hours making all those guide myself with a ruler when people have been happily using the Ames Lettering Guide for nearly a hundred years! I gave it a spin today and it SAVES SO MUCH FREAKING TIME!

When I do find myself hand-lettering, I can't live without my Ames guide either. It's comforting that some things need no upgrade or replacement, even as they start to become an artifact of a different age.
